I love a good dash of black and grey and so does one of my work colleagues, so I used this challenge as a starting point for this card, keeping the mono colours in check across the card... not to mention this came together pretty quickly thanks to the fact that I have cut out the top panel scrolls so many times my scissors just drive themselves!
Thanks for stopping by, and do let me know if you are playing along with the Challenges!

I wanted a little package to hold some dressed up chipboard letters that spell out a little (well rather big actually) Birthday Surprise for a friend of mine... think she will know what it means? I hope so, can't spell it out any clearer than this... and it uses her fave, blue (yuk!), and one of those clips that I keep meaning to use!

This one got me thinking about this new stamp and then colouring, which I am still mastering! Only in the land of Edna's limited pen supply and warped mind would you find pink, red and brown mushrooms, but hey I gave it a go!! Not to mention those hand cut clouds... never in my wildest dreams did I every imagine I would be into clouds on cards... but it was nice to go there and I may revisit some day soon...

Another little girlie, this time with a touch more of the country going on! I loved the little garden fork and this stamp will be good for all of my mother's gardening friends... this time I opted for a muted image with a little spotlight in colour... got to use some new nesties, and deepen the colour of a long kept spool of ribbon... so happy with that!

Isn't it true that sometimes all you need to fill up a blank space is a touch of texture, a feature item, and a few little charms... that's how this little birdie number came to be! It was lovely to pull out some Autumn Leaves stamps BTW, long time no touch... but they are at the forefront of my mind now...

So I wanted to stick with a soft floral card today, and when I found this lovely fine tulle, the first thing I thought of were the fancy little silver buckles I bought an eon ago, so this began with the trim and fell into place from there... the little scallop skirt is all popped up and there is a mix of pearls and shiny dots.... and although you probably can't see so in the photo, a truck load of shine thanks to my clear Spica... I paper pieced the flowers but also coloured them a tad with a few copics!

I love the yellowish green in this paper range and bought myself a few more sheets the other day, just for good measure and to fuel future flashbacks!! I like making paper roses, even more so when they are good and rustic, the black polka paper lended itself well to this, especially after I sewed around the edge of the paper rounds before assembly
Ink: SU: Kiwi Kiss; Memento: Tuxedo Black;
Extras: Spellbinders: Borderabilities: Lattice, Nestabilities: Curvy Rectangles; Sam & Lucy: Weave Extras (Rhinestones); Sewing Machine.

Dirty but Delightful: Day 4--A Sketch is a Pattern
Hello Again Blog Friends!
The card I'm sharing today covers two challenges hosted by notimetostamp and leighobrien and you can get the challenge details from this link.
I liked the muted tones of this paper, and the patterns are not very matchy matchy, so you get lots of variation in texture just from the papers... I inked and inked and inked the label to get it to tone in... then I raised the centre and flat mounted the edges so it has a nice curve to it, which helps the flower to pop up. A great excuse to use one of those expensive antique copper brads too, at least I like this card, unlike the last card I used one of those on!
Thanks for stopping by, and do let me know if you are playing along with the Challenges!

Start and Finish Unknown!
Well that title is a little bit of a lie, I did start with the paper pack, but not with that drastic colour blue as a feature... and then I had to just keep going 'cause I spent so much time making sure all the little patterns on the grid matched exactly and couldn't throw it out... so this is the end result... I like the grid and the label, but had plans of an overly floral card with heaps of paper roses, alas I don't have them in blue and none of my copics turned my pink roses to a shade of blue anything like the paper, so I skipped it, added a tonka of sprinkles and called it a flat day!

It started with the Butterfly...
Here's a card that I made for the Featured Stamper Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers last Sunday...
This week the honour went to SBS81, I chose Stephanie's Freebie Friday Card to CASE. As with these challenges you need to change up at least 3 things, in my case I placed the panels on the flat rather than the angel; I used different flowers and a die cut butterfly and changed the music to text.
A lot of blue on this one, which is not normally my thing, but it all started with the butterfly, so went with it!
What's in it?
Stamps: Verve: One Person; PaperTrey: Text Background
Paper: SU: Kraft, Very Vanilla; and some sort of blue
Ink: SU: Creamy Caramel, Buckaroo Blue and Regal Rose with a dash of Ballet Blue and Old Olive; Copic: RV11, RV14 and O.
Extras: There is that rustic ribbon stuff again!; May Arts: Twine; Making Memories: Button; Spellbinders: Nestabilities--Labels 7; Kaiser: Pearls.

Time for a Gift Card!
Every now and then I make up a batch of gift cards, primarily so that I can give them to my sister as she is a breader and has kids who do the rounds of birthday parties... this saves her spending $3 on a card that most of the time is quickly discarded... still needs to be fun, but not too expensive, so I whipped these up from scraps that matched a sheet of Bazzill stickers... granted the sticker sheet was $4 (from some time ago), but all in all super cheap little note cards, that are quick, bright and fun; and functional!
Stamps: Nil
Paper: Stampin' Up!: Gloss White; Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Certainly Celery; Some sort of Blue
Ink: Nil
Extras: Bazzill: Sticker Sheet; QuicKuts: Dots Embossing Folder; Spellbinders: Nestabilities--Lg Scallops Sm, Labels 10; EK Success: Scallop Scallops Border Punch.

Colour Throwdown 100
Wanted to play along with the Colour Throwdown 100 Challenge, I haven't ever played these challenges so starting with 100 'tis B-ZAR but better late than never!
A popping colour combo it was too, I thought I would give it a nudge without using patterned paper or a neutral colour, apart from the black stamping... not an easy task, but I like the red butterflies, which I darkened portions of with a copic and added some shine to with a spica.... also got to use my new Verve, so inked up quite a few of the images in this set to build the grassy scrolly section of the card... A little bland for my liking, but still good to use new stuff and try out a 4 part colour combo! Thanks for popping in!

Shaping It Up for JR
Here is a little notecard inspired by the JustRite Stampers Friday Challenge #26 to make a shaped card... I opted away from the flowers shapes for the base card and used a Labels 10, but incorporated the flower nesties for the embellishment...
I wanted an earthy card for an earthy friend of mine, so it was great to use some more of the K&Co paper as it has a kraft core, YUMMO! Was a bit of a shame to hide too much of the gorgeous garden paper, so went with an open circle sentiment, and used a flower from the same set, but instead of cutting the flower to build a 3D embellie, I die cut 2 each of the 3 smallest peony nesties, and then stamped the daisy on top of each, so it has both the flow of the daisy and the shape of the peony... I really roughed up the flowers as I was giving shape to them so lots of the kraft core comes through... and there are some seed beads in the centre of the flower.
What's in it?
Paper: K&Co: Designer Scrapbook Cardstock Pack
Ink: Memento: Rich Cocoa; Copic:; B41
Extras: Spellbinders: Nestabilities: Labels 10, Circles Sm, Peony; Kaiser: Chocolate Pearls; Seed Beads

I edged the embossed border of the card with a Copic, like Sharon, I like to do this as it provides definition without layers... Hope you like!

Chipboard, Oh My Chipboard!
I love a good set of chipboard! The letters in this set are all vintaged up cream with bit of red and pink and such, and I needed a D card, so took the pink from the letter and worked the card out from there.
Was fab to reach into my Stampin' Up! drawer and pull out Gallery, I have always loved this little frame.... sigh... and I needed some cutting to keep me going whilst I snuck in a bit of TV, heee!
A good dash on Unity and a big dash of ink-love and this mish mash of stamps and elements came together... 'tis just a little card at 10cm square, just the right size for a quick birthday message, don't want to get too sappy now do we!!
What's in it?

Paper: SU: Very Vanilla, Kraft

CAS CASE Cheerio!
Seen the new Stampin' Up! Catalogue, lots of delight in there, I was looking for some inspiration the other day whilst standing right on top of my heater.... and alas the card on page 62 popped out at me, and I had been planning on making sure I used these little rodent stamps, so a CAS CASE it was!
I pulled out some scraps and looked there for a bit of colour inspiration and managed to get the three stems onto the circle I had in the scrap pile too... Some little bits of bling and a piece of pre-embossed white cardstock with fluttery things and this was done!
Thanks for taking a peek...

Have you still got Cool Caribbean Ink?
CAS is Cool and lots of fun 'cause results are quick! All that you see in this is a piece of card, a scrap of card, a pre-printed label, ink, twine and beads... OK so maybe that is quite a list, so maybe not too CAS but the process definitely was... some quick background stamping directly onto the card, rock'n'roll ink application to the star stamp, a few bits of adhesive and a little knot in the twine, that's it! If it hadn't have taken me three minutes to locate these beads this would have been a super fast card too...
Gotta love a good label!

CAS Fly Away with Me
I have always loved this sentiment but not used it, so was apt to pull it out this week when I needed some quick cards for a little paper therapy in between re-inventing Controls Assurances for work -- blah!
So kept this very simple, the paper and the stamp have the same flow in my humble opinion, so just a little dash of clean border punching, some flat shiny pearls and a focus on the stamping... and perhaps an option to fly off and forget things for just a little while!
A good card for posting off-shore... perhaps that is where I will fly off too!!
What's in it?
Stamps: Flourishes: Birds in Vines
Paper: Laura Ashley Traditionals Collection, Very Vanilla
Ink: SU: Buckaroo Blue, River Rock
Extras: Flat String Pearls... these one's from a hard bargainer in the HoChiMinh City Markets; Martha Stewart Trellis Punch

Love My Orange
This was a Verve Release Challenge froma while ago that I didn't show here, this time using a sketch from the January Viva la Verve Challenges. Lots of panels, so reached for the much neglected Nutmeg paper range and went with a brown and orange theme... I thought the circle feature called for a flower and instead of cutting out a paper flower I added one of the crochet flowers a friend of mine made for me... had to ink it up to get the colour right, but I think it went well in the end...
Not much else but panel work and simple stamping to this one, so it came together in a super flash!!
Extras: Hand Crocheted Flower (thanks Loretta!); Vintage Button; Fiskars: Heritage Corner Punch

Material Girl CHEER
A little birthday card for my baby sister... I can remember 32, can you?
I reached for the Material Girl paper pack so that I could use some of the green paper in there and ended up staying with all the papers in that pack... at least they co-ordinate I suppose! I wanted layered circles, so a no brainer to reach for some rodents, and there I go again with my nesties, hard to believe I have only had a die cutting maching for a few months now, once upon a time I thought die cuts were too commercial looking, now I am addicted. I wonder what my next fad with be?
I threw in some stitching to tie in with the papers, and a good dash of vintage ink.
Thanks for coming by!

Vintage Labels 2--Yes Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't get my new Vintage Labels 2 out of the packet quick enough when it arrived yesterday! Wanted to make a reasonably flat card so that it could be posted in a standard envelope, but this didn't stop me railroading some off-cuts from the Lattice Borderabilities and popping them up on the outside edge...
I LOVE the vintage feel to the Labels 2 stamps, especially this one with the solid inky bits... I thought it would be nice to use a Labels 10 stamp for the oval opening on this and popped it up a little as well... the little swirls from Labels 2 fit nicely in the opening for those of you who are yet to give this a go...
Considering I skipped the bow.... Oh No! I spliced the edge and thread the ribbon through the label and added a good dash and half of tiny little rhinestones to the sentiment label and the edges of the borders. I thank the day that I found this wheel of rhinestones for $4, nice to have hundreds of little ones all the same size in a nice array of colours!!
There is a lot more to be done with my newest set of rodents, watch this space!!

Extras: Spellbinders: Nestabilities--Labels 10, Borderabilities--Lattice; Black Tafetta Ribbon from Spotlight; Anita's Rhinestones

Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz: The Kindness of a Rodent
Welcome to the Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz, if you have arrived here directly you might like to whip back to Claire's Blog to start at the beginning of the Waltz, there is also a full list of participants there in case you loose the thread on the way...
It has been great to have the opportunity to show a few varied uses for the wonderful Rescue Remedies stamp set this week, I thought I should include a vintage card for the Blog Waltz, so covered the front of a long card with some lovely paper, attaching with a small zigzag stitch and distressing the edges a touch!
I stamped the label on some calico and cut it out with my Wizard, I did mount this on the same sized label for a bit of stability as I wanted to pop mount onto the Kraft label, which is dressed with a little stamping thanks to some of the little stamps included in this set.... both on the card base itself and then the little cutouts on three of the corners.
I skipped using a ribbon and instead stamped a row of the little swirly triangles, that come with this set, along a strip of calico... and added some stitching to the edge once again.
Then it was a case of adding the pearls and rose, and for a finishing touch I painted a little silver dragonfly and sat it atop the flower. I like the way the fabric stamps with Waltzingmouse Stamps, very clear impression, gotta love that!!
Thanks for visiting... Don't forget to leave comments along the way for your opportunity to win some lovely prizes.
Your next stop on the Waltz is Laurie Schmidlin at Just Give Me Stamps, I am sure a treat to behold will await, enjoy the dancing with the rodent lovers, and thanks for visiting!!

A Rodent Hiatus--NO WAY!!
A little hiatus in the Waltzing Mouse Release build, the release does happen on 1 July, but the time zone difference actually means that it is well into the morning on 2 July for me, so I thought I would use today's post to share a card I made for the 4th Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge, and it was a brain bender!!
Before I get to the deets on the card, a little enabler.... there is a free shipping option on this month's release over at Waltzingmouse Stamps, the release goes live at 7PM GMT, so check out all of the eye candy from the last three days, best to start on Claire's blog... do up your list and check it twice to make sure you have all that youneed want on the list... you might need fast fingers, these little babies are going to be popuLAR!!
A Blog Waltz accompanies the release so once you have your order sorted have a Waltz around the creations of the Design Team, I am guesting this month and have saved my fave for the Waltz.
Now for the card, I really like this sketch, at first sight it was OUCH, but great to look to the layers and take it from there, I struggle with sketches to be honest and set a task this year to get more practice... this time I kept the circle of circles but limited the number a tad... I built the background as one piece and then spliced it to separate into the 4 sections suggested by the sketch... I wanted to put a big fat label in the centre but resisted and went for a pokey out one!

Stamps: Waltzing Mouse Stamps: Very Vintage Labels No. 5, Pic-Nic Patterns, Fancy Phrases
Paper: SU: Basic Gray, Regal Rose; XpressIt: Blending Card
Ink: SU: Basic Gray, Regal Rose
Extras: Kaiser: Pewter Pearls, Cuttlebug: Corner Dies (thanks Wattle).

I had a great time building the plaid, and have been inspired by the release peeks to try building the plaid all in one colour, so that will be a task for the weekend.
For now... keep on enjoying the suspense only a little while to wait until you can see all the new sets in their entirety...WOOHOO!
