MFT Love Contest

Here is a little entry for the MFT February Contest to follow a card recipe:

Valentine's Theme
One Patterned Paper
Two Cardstock Colors (not including neutral base): Two Shades of Pink
Three Type of Embellishments:  Plastic Shapes, Chipboard, Pearls

My MFT collection is still in its infancy..... so had to be a little creative and take this a la Mode and extract the massive cupcake and replace it with a heart, was a little tricky but I managed by drawing in the RHS glove with a line marker.

I had made myself a promise to use more of my plastic stash, instead of just touching it all the time!!!  So it seemed perfect to use a heart and sentiment which helped the theme along.

Thanks for stopping by!

MFTWSC4 Time for a Bit of Fizz

This week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge came through just in time for me to cut out all the bits whilst watching the tennis, perfect!

I don't own any of the MFT doily die's so went with one of the frame stamps and used the end piece of one 8 times to build the circle feature on this card... I flipped the sketch and replaced the bow with a flower and sentiment for the centre line of the sketch... first time inking up this little stamp for me, so loving that!

Thanks for looking!

Mischief Makers--Flower Anyone?

Well I had fun with this week's Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch Challenge... the sketch asked for a flower so that I did... with a variety of elements from the Victorian Frippery Stamp Set.

I have tried to take a photo of the flower detail, it is a little fuzzy, but you can see the various layers.

The large majority of time for this card was obviously spent on this flower, but I did add some scroll detail to the background DSP and rounded the corners like the sketch.  The tag uses the same corner stamp that I built the outer flower petals from and a portion of the label from this set as well.

I was going to do a quilled stem and leaves but stayed neutral with the string, didn't want to upset the colours with an intruding green!

About the Flower:  The bottom layer is the largest circle in the set with the corner flourish stamped out around the edge with the tails curled up.  The second is a flat stamping of the largest circle, foam mounted; then there is a circle from the set that holds the top flower "petals", also curled up, placed to align with the design in the lower level... a big fat button and a splash of pearls to finish.

Hope you like!!

Waltzingmouse Stamps--Birthday Girl

A Birthday Blog Hop today for the wonderful Claire, founder and creator of Waltzingmouse Stamps!

Happy Birthday Claire!!

If you are following the hop you should have arrived here by way of dear Julia, if not then head back to Waltzingmouse Makes for the beginning of the Blog Hop and join in all the wonder of what the girls have put together especially for our Claire!

I wanted to use one of the sets that came in my first Waltzingmouse Order for Claire's card, and to also include a good dash of GREEN!  So this little lady of a card came together from the lovely stylings of Very Vintage Labels No. 5.  I included some of my favourite things to do with my much loved rodents, which is to build labels and hand stamped borders and backgrounds... and this set has everything you need for that!

So I took one of the scrolls, to build the main background, and used the same scroll to build the small border strip, underneath this is a border strip built from one of the circle elements in this set... and to finish off some bling and a rose ribbon, inked up with Wild Wasabi Ink and a good dash of PearlEx.

The next stop on the Hop is Clare, enjoy!

VLVJAN2011 The Beat of My Paper Heart

And this is sketch two from this month's Verve Sketches at Splitcoastampers.  This time I used some new spellbinders to get myself over the challenge of an oval... I partial stamped one of the fancy scrolls from this stamp set on the sentiment panel, and then on top of the vellum panel too... I love the scrolls in this set because you get them facing each way which is fabulicious!

Not to mention I could use this paper all day long!!

FS207 Be Yourself

I got time to play Featured Stamper over at Splitcoaststampers today and CASEd this card by artsy_em... I like doing weaves so this stuck my eye straight away... and kraft card stock too, woohoo!

So I changed out the stamps, and colours and replaced the candy with a button at the top of the card.  Colouring the hair on this stamp took way too long, but apart from that this came together pretty quickly!

Thanks for looking!

Mischief Makers--Birds make me HAPPY!

I had a little fun with this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge... incorporating a bird from the patterned paper with the fun little sketch!

I swapped out the star shape for a little square, just so that I could use my new nesties... and this paper is soo much fun, and check out the bird, how perfect that he was ready to pop up and be counted!

The trees are a little sick, as they have lost their leaves, but hopefully the fun colours of the trees will cheer up the recipient of this card.  I background stamped below the colours in tone on tone ink... I love both of these BG stamps, two of my fave rodents!!!

Hope you get to play along this week!

A Little Mother Love!

I am squeezing in a little entry for the Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge this month which encouraged going Vintage.... so I dirtied up a Flourishes Flower and teamed it with some vintage paper and a good dash of sewing and inking.

I love building lace borders which is exactly why I have the lovely lace edges set; so had to add one of those for this card too.... if you get the distress ink to the SU ink fast enough it really meshes together well for a faded out lace look!

Thanks for taking a peek!

HB Bro!

It is my eldest brother's birthday today... so a little touch of masculine especially for him...no stamping, which seems to be a thing I turn to often for male cards.... but I had a plan to use the little flash cards that I have been "saving" for way too long... I love Collections for a touch of modern vintage items!

Then some careful selection and cutting with the papers to get the top of the ledger for this card... then a double mounted strip with just a touch of colour in the string... I LOVE these big brads too, I have been "saving" these for way too long too... but now that my brads are all lined up in their own compartment in my newly cleansed drawers of embellishments they kinda stand out and beg to be used... perfect in black too!

I hope this post finds you all safe and well... I have returned to Australia today with many stories to tell from my travels, and just as many to catch up on at home!

Must get to it...

Dirty Girl Anni

It was the 15th of January one year ago that I got down and dirty as an inductee to the Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen Design Team... of course the 15th in the States is 4PM on the 16th in Bris-Vegas...

I thought it might be fun to do a little reflecting today, so here are some cards that I made for the Floral, Feminine and Flirty Theme… I must say that this was my favourite of the themes from my 6 months on this team… although I didn't quite apply much flirt (not my thing really) I think I pulled off the Floral and Feminine in my own way… Enjoy this little flashback, I did!!

Mischief Makers--Panels, Panels, I see Panels

Well this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge had me thinking!  I was originally going to go all masculine with different BG stamps on different coloured panels, but this is where I ended up... just a little different!!!

I kept all of the panels the same colour, and made them light with a solid piece of darker DSP behind which helped them to stay in focus.  I kept to the layout of the panels in the sketch but put a small space in between each of the panels, I also inked the edges of each before sticking them down.  I then got inky with the various stamps to build a little bit of vintage across the panels.

I also stamped each petal of the rose with one of the stamps before I rolled it together...

I added some matching corner stamps before placing the layers on the card base too, this helped to bring it all together I think...

Will be interested to see how many different directions this sketch takes people this week, enjoy!

Quick Little Man, Quick!

I needed a very quick card for a little dude, so went with an outline of Edward in a circle, and kept the circle theme going with the carefully cut out B, and the circle with the star embellishment.

This came together in record time at the end of a long night and was happily put in the post before I got on the plane, phew!!!

I Just LOVE her legs, don't you?

Time to share a little more fun... I finally got some a la Modes from MFT, and this one was the first one on my list!!  I just love her wonky legs and over sized cake!

I kept her fresh and fun, with a good dash of sparkle on her accessories including the cake icing...

I coloured up the layered panel with a copic to keep the aqua and pink theme happening...

I can see a lot of a la Mode in my future!

Purple Parade

Here is a mostly purple card, eeewwww!

What you do for your friends!!!

I do love this TE Set though and purple is pretty up there with the Rock Chics I have heard!!

This is all the same coloured card, I just applied some Copic to the darker places... and I knew those overpriced white rhinestones would be fitting for a project some day!!

Short on words, had to fit in a whack of blogging before I got on that plane...

Mischief Makers--It's a Basket!

Well it is time for the first Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge for 2011, and the sketch has endless possibilities...

I wanted to have big loopy handles and a small pocket to place some earrings, so instead of a round handle I fashioned the handle from one of the lovely rodent labels.  I simple lined up the stamp at each end of a 30 cm piece of card stock, cut out the centres to about three quarters of the way down and then scored the centre 3 times to build this little basket.

I built a little flower from my fave rodent, don't you just LOVE the leaves in this set!!!

This came together pretty quickly and is the perfect size for small, light gifts... somehow a year of diligently attempting sketches has me in a good place creatively... hope you "Get Your Sketch On" with the Mischief Makers this week, have fun!

V is for Vanuatu, G is for Going There, H is for Haven't Packed Yet!!

I am signing off and getting out the suitcase, it is time for me to take a break from work and head to the Pacific for a little summer holiday... I am not even taking my phone!

Here is a little picture of where I will be staying for half of the time I am away...

I have managed some forward posting, so it won't be too boring around here in my absence!

I have ALWAYS wanted a Polka Dot Umbrella

Well I am squeezing in this entry for the Copic Oz Challenge before I depart on a Summer Holiday... which is B-Zar as the theme is about Australian Summer and the colour green... plenty of green around at the moment, but not often very bright thanks to the drenching of rain that consistently falls...

So I took the only rain inhabited stamp I have and added green in the form of a funky little umbrella... I have always wanted a polka dot umbi, so used the blending marker for some dots on the umbrella and in the puddle of water at her feet.... I tried to get the rain falling on a strong angle too...

Hopefully this little lady's attitude towards bright clothing will scare all the rain away!

MFTWSC1 A Sweetie for A Sweetie...

It is with much delight that I report my My Favorite Things order has arrived!!!  Although this PI I borrowed from KathyJ, I did have fun breaking out a new sentiment set and new border die.  I based this card on MFT's 1st Sketch for the year... I inverted one of the top scallops, and used a piece of paper that had a "double feature", look closely you will see some marching lady bugs in there too!

The main image is paper pieced, this was fun, I have 5 more cards to make tonight, so keeping this short short short!!

Thanks for taking a peek!
