Splitcoaststampers FS--Butterfly meets Doily

Well it has been way too long since I played Featured Stamper over at Splitcoaststampers, so I made sure I allocated time for that this fine Sunday afternoon....

And this week's featured stamper is a rodent lover so the timing was perfect... so some rodents for rosigrld on a quick and CAS card... I like her bold rendition, but went with some muted colours from a new paper pack I aquired... and used a doily from the paper pack as the first layer, and some rodents for the top layer of the doily feature.

It was great to get back to FS, I am going to try to play around in the Splitcoaststampers world a little more frequently than I have been of late, after all it is a wonderful place!!

Thanks for taking a peek....

Mischief Makers--I like MONO

Another sketch from my little pad for this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge... a great example of taking the sketch and making it your own even when it was my own.... I used a larger label and took up the total space on the bottom of the card, and skipped the lower scallop feature given the double layer of curves from the labels... making the sketch your own is VERY OK!!

Lots of tone on tone stamping in this one and mainly mono with the one neutral... I thought I would get away from putting the sentiment in the label, and built a flower from a couple of the doily elements and a bit of paper folding and cutting.  Then to the sentiment which is just simple stamping, cut into strips and secured with a glue pen.... atop the most fabulous of stamped ginghams, of course, too!

I love the gingham stamps, they let you dress up any old piece of cardboard or patterned paper, best background seriously!

I hope I get to see your little creation based on this sketch, and that you are the lucky recipient of the free stamp set on offer each week.... use any shape you like too!

Dave Really Does Rock

... not in the have hot sultry voice and slamming guitar way, but in the sense of an employee!

A little farewell card I made for a long term colleague recently... blogger ate my post so the deets are sketchy but I remember using the stickers from the EP Paper pack, layering them up and adding the letters and little flash of Verve, bright and fun and well received, so that is enough for happiness I say!

Balloon-a-rifica

Another case of holding out for the right style of a current trend, these little balloons came to my place without even a thought, I have liked this trend, but it took these particular ones to make my finger "click on the basket"... I like the antique feel and the softer detail... will be good for bright and not-so colour combinations...

So without further ado... I give you these balloons, also inspired by the For Your Inspiration Blog... I really liked the balloon picture, you could get down with the colours or showcase some balloons or other such flying instruments!!

A touch of fun in the yellow, I like, hope you do too!

Quick but Cute!

Was great to pull out this Stampin' Up! set and get it inky on a few baby shower tags, seems to be the season for babies and showers and the like.... this one for my cousin's wife, she is having a boy... not that I like to know what people are having, but they told the world, so out came the red and blue!

I double stamped the "onesie" and popped it up for a bit of extra interest, and rounded out the corners on the sentiment layer.

Quick and cuTe...

Mischief Makers--Grids and Gingham

Well here is another little sketch from my sketch book, for the Waltzingmouse Sketch this weekend... a little grid of circles, but of course you can make a grid of any shape you like, with any number of "spots" in your grid.... go forth and multiply!

This also joins the Blog Waltz Celebrations for Waltzingmouse Stamps' 2nd Birthday, I can't quite believe it is only 2 years ago.... I am not quite sure how I lived without my favourite little rodents!!  Happy Birthday Claire and all who contribute to the Waltzingmouse story, may there be many more!!

This card also celebrates the arrival of my latest WMS order, the little mice must have come across rough seas as they took their time getting to my letter box this time... but I managed to get them in time for this sketch challenge.... lots of mixed images from across the new stamp sets... a gingham background, different doilies from across both sets, partial cuts of some, including the flowers... I loved the little dots which will be centres no doubt, but I used them as dots this time.... and, although not for the faint of heart, I really like the large sentiments all hand cut and swirling over the grid of circles.

Lots of fun adding little bits to this card, look forward to what you will make with this little sketch and I hope you get to take home the free stamp set that is on offer!

How old is six these days....

Another of my stolen posts... here is what I can remember about what is in this one...

Left over banners from a much bigger banner project...  always good to keep the left over die cuts, you can colour them up anyway you like then!

Little stickers from paper pack!

Mixed black accents are always good for boy cards too... and I love these plastic stars, I coloured this one with a copic, but have used paint in the same way for a similar effect...

Dirty Dozen Re-Cap May

Well it was hard to believe at this time last year I was into my fifth month on the Dirty Dozen Design Team over at Splitcoaststampers... the time flew by, seriously!!

May was all about Gardens, and I created a little group of various blossoms for my very own Paper Garden, and truthfully the only garden that I could grow!!

Card details can be found over in my Splitcoaststampers Gallery.

Mischief Makers--Stamp That Border, Stamp It!!

Well looky here, a little sketch that was exactly what I was feeling like using, I wonder wonder wonder why???

I love love love to piece stamps from different sets together to build border pieces and scallops and such... it is a great way to use the little pieces in all the Waltzingmouse sets, they line up like a dream.... and if you want to you can even throw in some fussy cutting as the industry tends to call it!

So I use a half label from VVL No 10 to build the scallop and then a circle feature from VVL No 5 inside the scallop and some little corner scrolls on the seams of this part.... then a big piece of box pleated card board before adding the top piece, which is a simple scroll repeat stamped... and some super glam "ribbon" to finish off.... I like the glamour that is one colour with a neutral and don't think it necessarily needs a sentiment.... but in saying that had my newest rodents arrived I would not have been able to help myself by hand cutting around one of them for the bottom RHS of this card.

So get your stamps out and see what sort of border piece you can build with your stamps, it could be as easy as one pass with a background stamp or a little bit fussier if that is to your taste... certainly worth a go for your chance to win a free stamp set of your choice, just link up your creation here!

Good luck everyone.... and PS best to have your wish list ready, just in case you win!!!

Scrap-o-licious

Well I can't believe I am still squeezing cards out of this paper pack, it has been a long time love of mine and something I turn to when I need lots of colour in a shabby sense...

So lots of bits, some with the reverse side of border cuts, were compiled for the not so little tag... and few scraps from the lace pile too.  And here is my last (tears) crochet doily... thanks DOT!!

Not much stamping on this or my last card... but sometimes you get that!

Shades Alert--White and la la Bright...

Well here is an attempt at colouring one of the currently in vogue La La Land Stamps... these are super sized for sure and not really for me as they take forever to colour, but I persisted by telling myself it was good practice, both the colouring and the patience!

Given the size of the stamp, I went with a simple BG, albeit rather colourful... and, just because I could, I added some of my newest and most favourite flowers.... also direct stamping the sentiment over the lower part of the image.

That's it for this one, simple and possibly sweet, once I get over the need for shades!

Popping Verve Blossoms

Love Love Love the new Verve Flowers, so expect to see them often here.... used a Verve Sketch from Splitcoaststampers for this little card... not sure about the oval layer, but ovals are over-rated anyways... he he heeeee!!!

I have a good stash of the flowers already cut out, so this was a quick application of colours, and some adjustments with one of my fave brown tones to bring them back to the BG paper tones... lots of yellow in there... I haven't quite let go of summer yet or my thing for yellow...

Still loving the Maya Kraft Labels too!

JustRite Vintage Wedding

I needed a wedding card, well actually my mother did, so I called on some JustRite inspiration from their Friday Challenge #054, which was good 'cause I like Wedding Cards to be square, or larger than the standard.
So I used various images from the two stamp sets to build the "crooked" rectangle panel, 3 stamps in total, repeat stamped in a grid of six, and then used one of the tags for the sentiment.  The little stamps lined up pretty well, they have good visibility through the block as long as you use a block that is much bigger than the stamp... so the stamping was pretty quick and fun... staining the cardboard and paper so that they were in sync was a little tricky but got there in the end.

And there is some of that hairy fibre that I keep finding just at the right time... and one of my Nana's vintage buttons on the black bow with a pair of crystal pins.

Mother asked for "elegant", not sure she had vintage in mind, but I know the couple and they will be happy with vintage I think!

Many People Make a Difference

Although I will be celebrating Mother's Day today, it is not just Mothers that Make a Difference in our lives... reach out and tell someone that isn't a Mother what sort of difference they make today too... whilst firmly embracing your own Mother of course!

This is the first time I have coloured up these images, so still some practice to be had, but I managed to get the flowers looking like flowers at least, and the leaves resembling green of some variety...  I over-coloured the paper pieces to bring them into tone with the colouring, one of the best things about Copics!!

The label and butterfly circle are included with this paper pack... making a concerted effort to use these lately as I normally get to the end of the paper pack and just put them into the "donate" pile... think they worked OK here...

This is also for the Copic Oz Challenge this month, check it out here!

That's all from me today...

Mischief Makers--Doily Deprived

This week's Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch Challenge will be perfect for all of you who already have your doilies, for the rest of us it is time to get out all the other circle shaped stamps we have in our little pile of rodents....

I hid a number of circle stamps in the layered up circle on this card, stamping the edges of patterned paper and generally adding ink to the layers.  Some half strength text in the BG and a directly stamped series of circles underneath the sentiment strip.

There is a partial label in the sentiment strip, which added a bit of flow to an otherwise flat card...

The good thing about Waltzingmouse Sketches is that they allow for full interpretation by you... use the sketch as a simple starting point and see what evolves, we like it when you go astray!

This card is pretty CAS... hopefully my doilies show up this week so that I can give this sketch another try with those... in the mean time get to work... one simple card using a Waltzingmouse Image can win you a free stamp set of your choice, and free is always wonderful!

May Flowers

This card was encouraged by the arrival of my new Verve and their request for May Flowers in this Diva Dare... not hard to comply I have to say.... even though we have had winter weather here this week!
Of course I went with the flow and ordered the matching dies for this set... and every bit of spare space on my cutting mat has had these on them, for every pass through my wonderful Wizard, ever since; will be nice to have a little stash of the flower shapes and especially the leaves, which are super easy to line up without the stamping mask BTW!!

Truth also be told that when I bought this paper I said, "should buy multiple sheets" but didn't as I shouldn't be buying more paper--have a cupboard full... and alas I use it and use it and use it, and now I am down to scraps, but at least I got to get some pink and red flowers on top of it for this little card...

I am happy for flowers year round, just sayin'!

Are you out of the closet?

Are you in there on purpose or hiding behind a Mojo-Ninja?

I have had a Time-Ninja two seconds behind me for what seems like months... her swords are now lowered... and believe it or not I have actually attempted this week's Mojo Sketch Challenge... made easier by the fact that these little stamps were waiting in my post box late this afternoon... I totally {heart} them!

So I filled a TV hour's worth of ad breaks stamping and cutting out various combinations of the flowers and adding some serious amounts of antique ink... bliss!

This sketch was fun, and I am oh so happy to have new Verve-age, hope you are Ninja-less!!!!!!!!!!

The Hurdle

This card is officially called The Hurdle it has been on my to do list for too long, and I needed to get it done and it was blocking my ability to do anything today, so I just did what I do whenever I meet a hurdle, start something and it will either shrink enough for me to jump over it, or miraculously vanish...

So here is the end result, a Tri-Shutter Card... not for those without patience; which includes me... perhaps punishment for procrastination!!

Speaking of patience, I am now impatiently waiting for my newest rodents to turn up and then I will have an abundance of doily stamps... thought it best to use the ones I have before they come, so built the elements from the stamp set that matches these very popular and equally as lovely MME papers.  I used a few of the elements from the matching set of brads, this was good for said hurdle... and my "have to" plan to use blinged up ribbon went underneath the said hurdle and into the crowd, enter from Lane 8 Mr Twine.

The panels are all dirtied up... and I also wiped distress ink over the girlie to bring her into tone with the papers... who says distress ink doesn't work with Copics!

I am going to write a series of messages on the panels that don't sit at the front when this is closed, so I have left plenty of space for that, but also got to it with mixing up different bits of bling on the RHS panel... and at last my little teacher girl a la mode makes an outing, she has been cut out on my desk for weeks, since the moment the packet opened... with the intention of going onto this card, so TICK, this is done... the tortoise has crossed the finishing line, shins intact!

Thanks for tuning in!

PS I am sure the "requirement" to use blue for this card was the real hurdle--eww!

a la {heart} a la modes

Have I ever told you all of my deep affection for the little ladies that are a la modes, they are tiny and fun and frivolous.... and a LOT of them live at my place; can you believe it??

So I used this month's My Favorite Things Guest DT Challenge as inspiration for this card, with the criteria of Denim and Bling; therefore the 3 sizes of rolled roses made from denim with a good solid dash of bling in each flower centre.  The little lady has some denim pants on too and a good splash of shine on her hairband and the bear's bow thanks to my fave clear Spica.

I cut the dizzy border in plain cardstock and coloured it up with a matching copic to the bear bow, thought this would bring in the colour from the BG paper too...

I am loving this label shape too, lots of uses!

Thanks for taking a peek, see you soon!!!

Happy House Friends

And here is a little house warming card.... a good way to use strips of paper from all of those paper packs we have.... I tied the strips together with some black ink around each of the edges, and then a black border stamp in the opposite direction to the paper strips...

Some quick stamping, circles and THICKERS to finish off!

Time to fly....
